Definitions

Hypertension is present if

  • BP > 140/90 (practical)
  • BP > 135/85 (home)
  • BP > 130/80 (ABPM*)
  • BP > 135/85 dyatime (ABPM*)
  • BP > 120/70 nightime (ABPM*)

refractory hypertension if BP > 140/90 in spite of triple drug therapy
